Power Vinyasa is an offshoot of Ashtanga Yoga, it has many benefits, including building internal heat, increased stamina, strength and flexibility, as well as stress reduction. Teachers design their own sequences while students synchronize their breath with their movement. In our power vinyasa classes expect to sweat, get outside of your head and find fluid transitions from one pose to the next. We create an experience welcoming all levels. Studio will be gently heated in this class.
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga with postures, or asanas, that are held for long periods of time- for beginners, it may range from 45 seconds to two minutes; more advanced practitioners may stay in one asana for five minutes or more. Yin yoga poses apply moderate stress to the connective tissues of the body – the tendons, fascia, and ligaments with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, yin aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
Slow Flow is variation of a power vinyasa class. The pace of these classes are understandably slower and an emphasis is placed on anatomical intelligence, focused awareness and finding your unique equilibrium. This style can vary tremendously in its speed, with some classes preferring long, silent periods of reflection and static holding during each pose, and others opting for a more fluid experience. The toned-down speed of these classes does not, however, mean that the poses are any less beneficial for building strength, stability, and postural integrity than other styles. This slower pace can be more conducive to the meditative process of mindfulness in action and awareness of breath. This makes it particularly well-suited to newer students, or for those who desire deep concentration within their practice. Thus slow flow is just as it sounds, it helps us to “slow down”.
Barre is a power packed class using mostly your own body weight and a few props such as a ballet barre, resistance bands, light hand weights, gliding discs and/or small partially inflated squishy balls; to achieve a full body workout in less than an hour! You can expect a comprehensive fusion of pilates, yoga, strength training and ballet barre technique in this dynamic and musically driven class. This class is 50 minutes in length.
